If you plan to compete this year, you must attend a brief meeting in 3445 after school on Thursday, January 31st.  If you cannot attend, please see Ms. Mensinger.

This year's District World Language Competition will be held on Saturday, February 9th at 8:00 am at Plantation High School.  In order to compete, you must be enrolled in a Spanish or French class at CCHS during this school year.  If you are interested in competing, please tell your language teacher or see Ms. Mensinger in room 3445.

Students may compete in academic (speaking) competitions or talent and artistic competitions.  If you are interested in competing in an academic (speaking) competition, you must compete in both Impromptu Speaking and Declamation.  Impromptu speaking is talking in Spanish or French for two minutes about a given topic.  Declamation is reciting a poem that you have already memorized.  These competitions will take place at Plantation High School on February 9th.

If you would like to compete in the talent, project, or poster competition, you do not have to go to Plantation High School on Saturday.  The talent competition consists of dancing, singing, or instrumental music.  Your talent must be related to the language you are studying.   Talent will be videotaped and must be submitted to your teacher by Monday, February 4th.  Please see your teacher for more details.

The projects and posters will be due to your teacher on Monday, February 4th.  The top three posters and project will be selected from CCHS to compete at the district level.  The topic for the poster this year is "Celebrate Our World Languages".  Projects must somehow be related to the language your are studying and may include models, displays, games, etc.  Please see your teacher for more details.

If you are over 18 years old, speak another language fluently, and are interested in volunteering to judge at the competition on Saturday, February 9th, please contact Debbie Mensinger at debra.mensinger@browardschools.com
