Work Experience Program

Our Goal: To create and enhance career experiences (paid or unpaid) for our students with Varying Exceptionalities (SVE) in the community. Cooper City High School would like to successfully match motivated students, ages 18-22, who have an intellectual disability with employers in our community. In return, through our job coaching services, employers gain practical information that can be used for training and managing their own new employees. Employers also get the reward of knowing they are making a difference. Cooper City High School recognizes all training sites and employers as Partners in Education. CCHS Job coaches will find unpaid work experiences and entry-level jobs for students while providing training and accommodations in order to ensure long-term success. _______________________________________________ How does hiring a person with a disability benefit my business? - Job Placement Services reduce your hiring and training costs.
- Job coaches refer motivated candidates for entry-level jobs.
or - Unpaid Work Experiences provide an opportunity for our students to gain work experience in a meaningful environment. Unpaid work experiences are a perfect solution for overflow work or on-going small jobs that don't warrant permanent positions.
JOB PLACEMENT SERVICE Hiring and training a new employee is costly. We take the time to understand your requirements and refer only motivated candidates that will best match your needs. Each candidate who is referred to you is accompanied by a job coach at the work-site at all times. Job coaches are trained to analyze, conduct work-site assessments and develop techniques to assist a person with an intellectual disability to learn a new job. The job coach assists with on-the-job training, minimizing the amount of time an employer spends training a new employee. There is no fee for the placement or job coaching services. We are committed to excellence. To ensure the long-term success of your hiring decision we provide a range of free services such as; follow up communication with you and the employee, on-site work visits, and additional training for new job duties. UNPAID WORK EXPERIENCES People in our programs participate in unpaid work experiences. They experience a variety of jobs to gain a realistic understanding of jobs that are well matched with their skills. The employer is not expected to spend a lot of time training the participant - that's our job! A school job coach accompanies each program participant to your work site to assist them in performing the work to your standards. Unpaid work experiences are a perfect solution to assist you with overflow work, or ongoing small jobs that don't warrant permanent positions. There is no cost to you. All program participants are insured by our school. _______________________________________________________ Our program has had successful training opportunities with businesses in our area.
