Welcome to Cooper City High School's Academy of Finance home page! What is the Academy of Finance? The Academy of Finance provides a two-year specialized program of study in finance at the high school level and includes the fulfillment of both required and elective credits. The two-year program begins with introductory class work in the eleventh year, includes a paid, on-the-job internship at a financial services firm and culminates with more advanced courses in the senior year of high school. In addition to their regular class work, students have the opportunity to attend a variety of professional business functions throughout Broward County. They participate in an Annual Student Summit held at the Broward County Convention Center, attend awards presentations, participate in seminars presented at Nova Southeastern University, and even compete in the Stock Market Game. In addition, the students participate in a formal Academy graduation ceremony and receive an official Certificate of Completion for Financial Studies. The Academy of Finance program extends far beyond a course of study. It establishes an ongoing relationship involving corporate executives, school personnel, parents and students, resulting in greatly improved employment opportunities. DID YOU KNOW? For the 2005-2006 school year, Cooper City Academy of Finance graduates won over $46,000 in scholarships directly as a result of their participation in the Academy of Finance.
